Eulogy to the Class of '65
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Pierre, SD--The Riggs Class of '65 website quietly died in its sleep, July 15, 2005 following a short but courageous fight with a sudden but lethal illness, after a very successful fortieth class reunion. Survivor's include 181 class members from across the country. Medical authorities at St. Mary's Hospital, in Pierre, attribute the cause of death to lonliness and non-participation. People close to the website, said efforts to revive the site were unsuccessful and the site passed quietly in the night, just a few days after the heralded reunion, June 24-26, in the Capitol City. The Pierre reunion committee and the get connected team were at the site's bedside. Services will be on Monday, in Pierre, and the class ashes will be spread across the city and Missouri River. Rest in peace, www.riggsclassof65.com. You've been a wonderful friend and will be missed by all.

OF COURSE, this isn't true. But, the riggsclassof65 website is having some difficulties, which could be lethal if not treated. I've got an anecdote, though.

The memory book will be out as soon as the Sturgis Motorcycle Classic is over. This event consumes all my time. The copy is done. Larry will help me with the transporting of the photo's we decide to use. It will surely be a keepsake.

It's imnportant we not fall victim to the same destructive malady as other classes have fallen victim to...complacency. We know we have a unique class. We connected, in Pierre. Here's an idea. Let's use the blog site to sort of keep everyone posted as to what we're doing and who'd where and what.

For example, Patty Kifer is planning a trip to Alaska. Jerry is getting in some quality fishing. Helen is planning a trip to Turkey very soon. Cathleen is going to California soon to see family. Paul, gave a speech last week to Cathleen's Forest Service people on motorcycle safety. Penne is going to be in Pierre at the end of September and some of us are going to try to get there for the event. She says her and Lindekugle will meet anybody at the St. Charles Hotel Lounge, on Sept 28th. I might make it over for that one. She really wanted to be at the reunion. The Sunday of the reunion found a bunch of classmates on the Missouri River in Danny Davis, Gary Bren and Gaylord's boats. I don't know all the details but I know who does....Cathleen, Helen, and Colleen were in on the fun outing, as was Jan Neuharth. I expect a full report in the near future. Paul, Cathleen, Colleen and Helen had a fun time in Custer a few days after the reunion. Bob Brown just emailed me and expressed his regret on not being at the reunion.

Here's the real deal folks. We've obligated this site financially for the next five years and it's going to take some effort to keep it current and full of neat things. The catalyst, of course, is YOU. Please don't just hang out and occasionally read what's going on. We need input. It doesn't have to be much....just stay involved. This way when we do have mini-reunions and get-togethers in the future and the 45th Class Reunion, we'll have already done our homework and people will still be connected.

When you go on a trip or maybe see another one of our classmates take a couple of pictures and email them to us. We'll put them on the site. Jot down a couple of lines about what's going on in your life. The memory book will have complete addresses and email addresses of everybody we have records on. Stay in touch with each other.

I don't want to see an obituary for the Class of 65. We are survivors and deserve one another (who else would want a group like ours..ha ha)

HERE'S THE CHALLENGE! Everybody who reads this please add just one comment. Add it right now. Don't wait. Just say HI! If nobody responds then it looks like maybe nobody is reading these words and we'll try to design something else that might trigger our memories of the reunion and our friends and classmates.

I'M WAITING. Just go to the bottom of these comments and click on (comments). Let us know what you're doing.

A NEW Beginning....June 27, 2005
Here's the plan, my friends. There's always a chance of a mini-letdown after such a gala event as the Class of 65 40th Reunion. But, we've considered that possibility and have re-committed to continue the web site and continue to stay in contact with our classmates.

Here's some possibilities. First, when you get your 'memory book' there will be some important information included. You'll have email addresses of every classmate who gave us one. Those of you who didn't--please send them to me at pmitchell@rushmore.com. This will give you an instant form of communication with everybody. There will also be a completed roster of everyone we have an address for. So, you might as well add about 150 people to your Christmas list. I think you found out by the attitude at the reunion that everybody is pretty 'regular' and well worthy of being on our list of favorites. The key is to stay in contact. Start now!

Second, this web site was designed for you. We expect and need for you to participate in it. For any of you who didn't send a bio for one reason or another, now is the time to do it so I can get it in the memory book. I'll send a blanket email to everyone I have an addy for and ask them to send their info if they've been hesitant up to now. I think you all found out in pretty quick order that these people in this class are still all friends. In fact, looking back in retrospect, they are some of the best friends I've personally ever had and I'd venture to say that feeling might be with us all.

For heaven's sake, don't go into a 'hibernation'. I feel blessed--as if I just added many score of people to my 'favorites' list. I intend to stay in touch with many of you. In fact there was talk at the reunion among some of us 'rider' types of taking a Reunion Run sometime. I plan one this fall or winter. Get on the cycle and just skirt the country. When I'm close to a classmate's home I'll give them a call--maybe grab a cup of java....and keep going. Then Came Mitchell, instead of Bronson.

For those of you who have cell phones, why don't you share your cell phone number with your classmates. For example, if you're on a Verizon system, like me, you can call a verizon customer for free anytime. And after 9 pm you can call anybody for free! I'm sure it's the same for all cell phone servers. But, if you wait this might get more difficult to do. So start now. Everybody send me your email address, your correct physical address and your phone numbers. We have many of these but it doesn't hurt to duplicate. I'll start it out. As for me, 605-431-8697 is my cell #. Call anytime.

Now is the challenge. Let's see if we can continue the momentum. If we can we'll be accomplishing something very few, if any, high school classes are able to accomplish. Let's set a National example here. I'd just as soon see everyone in the country envy Riggs High Class of '65..Pierre, South Dakota. We know we were unique. Now let's take another shot at it and see just how 'unique' we really are!

We don't really want to post a class roster on the world wide web so we'll have to do this all by private communication. The ball is in your court.

Hat's off to my partners in this project...the Pierre Planning Commitee and our own 'get connected team', Jan, Cathleen and Larry. We've got a lot of pictures to post on the web site. Larry just sent an email to me today and reminded me it was time to 'get to work'--we've still got a lot to do. "This ain't over 'till," like Cathleen said, "the last classmate turns out the light.

There's still room for comments here...so have at it.

Mystery Classmates (Part 4)
Dear Bloggers: This has been great fun. We're now embarking on the final stage of mystery classmates. The Great Class of '65 40th Reunion is 14-days away. We've touched on 143 mystery classmates, which I think is amazing. And, we couldn't have done it without your input. Now, it's time for the ultimate contribution.

I'm going to list the final 55 classmates by number. I want everybody to dig deep in their memory and come up with something on each one of these classmates. I don't want to leave anybody out. These final 55 classmates are no less important than the first 143. Unfortunately, I didn't know any of these classmates very well. Rather than throw out some generic hints with no substance, I'd rather solicit my stable of bloggers to my aid. In your response I'd like you to identify the classmate by number and name...give a few anecdotes about what you know about them. YOU get to be the blog meister for a change. You know what I'm after...where they lived, cousins, schools, husbands and wives--any contact you may have had with any of them. We were a class of many. It took all of us to make this class. These final 55 classmates will complete this odyssey. You lurkers out there need to help, too. We've had a handful of 'regulars' and without them we'd never be this far.

This is an Open Book test. Remember, refer to these mystery classmates, in your responses, by name and number so we can refer to them and enjoy your input. When this is all over I'll tie it all together here on the web site and also in the 'memory booklet'. Also, I'd appreciate it if you made some comments to everyone's input. Finally, keep up the wonderful dialogue we've already started--this is half the fun. Your interaction, so far, is what's made this a success. Keep it going---or, I'll swipe your bicycle and sink it in Capitol Lake right along side Sally Trish's, Tee Pee your house, short-sheet your bed at the Ramkota, put Karo Syrup in your shampoo bottle, a potato in your exhaust pipe, anagesic balm in your jock strap, pay for a billboard on Sioux Avenue that says, "for a good time call______ " and list your home phone number, send your email addresses to hundreds of spammers, have pizza's delivered to your house when you get home, and what ever else I can figure out in the next three weeks. The Get Connected Team can now participate, too. Up until now, they've been relatively dormant because I've shared the answers with them before you guessed them.

So get with it! We need your participation on this final phase. Jerry, Sally, Penne, Nancy, lurkers, Warren, Gaylord, Dennis, Jan, Cathleen, Colleen, Helen and all the rest of you friends who've been so gracious as to participate--I need you one more time! **Editor's note: Keep it clean and positive--or I'll edit you! Ha Ha

Mystery Classmate (Part 3)
Well, fellow classmates, we're on the home stretch--THREE WEEKS left before the gala event! The Mystery Classmate blog is entering into it's THIRD and final run. Well be posting more mystery classmates in this new Part 3 section. We've had some great dialogue in PART 2 and hope this continues on in Part 3. However, anybody can go back and look at Parts 1 and 2, where we've identified 100 mystery classmates. From now on, though, make your guesses and comments in this section.

Keep in mind, you mystery bloggers, that we would like your personal comments to accompany your guesses. In other words, don't just list ten classmates by number and say, "that's my guess"! Tell us what clue gave them away--how you came to your decision. This is an important factor in providing classmate information to the 'lurkers' out there who are watching but not necessarily participating. Have a little fun with this. Challenge your fellow mystery classmate participants. I have to hand it to Jerry Brink, Gaylord, Dennis, Penne and Sally, in particular for making this mystery classmate endeavor such a success. You guys are awesome. Your interaction with each other cracks me up.

Here's a time-saving hint: Periodically go back to Part 2 and check the very top of the blog to see the list of mystery classmates who've already been SOLVED. These mystery classmates in Part 3 will all be new. We need to have all the classmates identified before the reunion. Some of the clues may be a little vague since I don't have bio's on most of them. Ready? On your marks....get set.....GO!

__________

Mystery Classmate # 133. She came up to me in Rapid City, in the early 90's and asked me if I remembered who she was. I didn't, but once she told me we had a nice visit. What ever her medical malady, it had taken it's toll. A very nice gal who is no longer with us. You'll find her towards the end of the alphabet. I wished I had known her better. I'm sorry I wasn't able to recognize her when she approached me. I remember her all through school, though. Her first name reminded me of me.--SOLVED--SOLVED--Paula Webber
__________

Mystery Classmates # 134 & 135. Here's two classmates with the same last name and I can never figure out who was what and where. One of them had something to do with the funeral home, I beleive. One of them married a Class of '64 guy. One of them might have been the daughter of the School Superintendent. Both of them were neat ladies, though. I need help on this one. Who ever makes the guess has to get them both--and it would be nice if we could get more information.--SOLVED--SOLVED--Karen Thompson and Sandy Thompson
__________

Mystery Classmate # 136. This guy was always happy and had a jolly smile. Another classmate with a longer, formal first name, but we just called him _ _ _ _! I think he had a cousin who was a cheer leader, in the class of '63 or '64. For some reason I always thought this guy was German. Another classmate who inhabited the end of the alphabet. I need more information on this guy from who ever guesses his name.--SOLVED--SOLVED--Nick Volk
__________

Mystery Classmate # 137. She was a cute as a bug---dark, maybe even black hair, tiny and petite and a big smile. She was either the cousin or brother of another classmate of ours...although her and her brother or cousin don't look anything alike. Bloggers have mistaken her for other classmates throughout the mystery classmates blog, so I saved her for later to see if the same people could remember her. This family had been around Pierre for as long as I can remember. The classmate relative I'm trying to recall was guessed by Dennis Douglas, early on.--SOLVED--SOLVED--Maureen Suiter
__________

Mystery Classmate # 138. We completely lost this classmate and can't find her any where. If anybody knows of her whereabouts, after her name is guessed, please let us know. The only comparison I can make is that she had the same last name as the guy who owned or worked at the cab company and was our school bus driver. His name was Ed. She's towards the front of the alphabet. We need help on this gal. But, I recognize her by her picture. She was very personable and conservative.--SOLVED--SOLVED--Sandra Arch
__________

Mystery Classmate # 139. Here was another TALL gal. I knew her family because her dad worked with my dad. She was a 'dam person', bless all our hearts, and lived in the Housing Area. I don't think they grew up in Pierre, but we had the pleasure of being around her all three years of high school. Her last name was spelled differently. Not many names have a 'z' in them that's not the first letter.--SOLVED--SOLVED--Cheryl Enz
__________

Mystery Classmate # 140. Not many kids in our class have a city street with the same name. I'm not even sure that there is any relationship but as you can see I'm struggling. I didn't know this gal and her last name is also the last name of a street in Pierre. A longer first name, but we just called her_ _ _!--SOLVED--SOLVED--Pam Filmore
__________

Mystery Classmate # 141. Now here was a very quiet gal--but not a plain jane. I thought for sure she'd marry one of our classmates because it seemed like they went together all three years of high school...but that wasn't the case. You'd see her helping her boyfriend drive--like sitting right next to him--his mid-fifties gold chevy....a longer first name with a bunch of "a's", but we called her _ _ _ _! I think she lives in Colorado. She got grades I only dreamed about.--SOLVED--SOLVED--Barb Fortchner
__________

Mystery Classmate # 142. We had Larry 'England', who moved away in our junior year---and Dennis 'German', who also moved away, or graduated with the class of '64. but we also had our own country namesake in our class, and he was a funny guy. Not particularly outgoing but a real nice kid. You can find him hanging out in the picture gallery with the rest of the grapplers.--SOLVED--SOLVED--Dennis French
__________

Mystery Classmate # 143. Now here was a pretty girl and the years have been her friend. Several guessers have confused her with other classmates throughout this process. Gaylord has asked about her. Jerry thinks she's a librarian. We've had her picture on the 'then and now' for some time but didn't have a bio. Just got it this weekend. Larry has some more pics to go up. She lives in Scottsdale, AZ, and is married to Eric, a New Jersey transplant to Arizona. They spend a lot of time on the water.--SOLVED--SOLVED--Carol Nelson

Send them to pmitchell@rushmore.com Do you realize this is one of the better class reunion web sites in the country? Contribute and make it even better.

Mystery Classmate # 1. You might find this classmate's picture in more than one place on the web site. This classmate has been married for 35 to a familiar name. 'Pasture Pool' at the local golf course is a passion. Local for this classmate isn't in Pierre, but he or she makes mention that they still live on the Missouri River. Not a particularly common first name. I remember this classmate as a quiet person and a very good dresser...exactly the kind of guy/gal you would take home to show your mom and dad..which is exactly what a gal from the class of '66 did.

**hint, May 8, 2005: This classmate recently moved to O'Fallon, MO after many years in Neenah, WI...They have twin boys. He coached and taught the first six years, then went into the insurance business, first in property and casualty and more recently in life insurance and training. There's only two other guys in our class with the same first name.

**hint, May 10, 2005: This mystery classmate was no stranger to stocking shelves.

**hint, May 11, 2005: One of his motto's was always to go by the Golden Rule. SOLVED--SOLVED--SOLVED--Paul Sherburn emial Paul and Cheryl (Cowan) Sherburn at Sherbsmo@charter.net

__________

Mystery Classmate # 7. This classmate lived close to the Governor and was always ready and willing with a smile and good company. For 25 years you'd find him 'where the rubber meets the road', never far from Pierre, and close to mile high. Quote: "..raised four girls, that have all made me proud...married twice--second time is the best." I was looking through the web site and found him a few times...a little gray on the roof, but the same great smile.--SOLVED--SOLVED Dennis Douglas email Dennis at ddouglas@transwest.com

__________

Mystery Classmate # 8. This fellow has lived a very exciting, meaningful and varied life--when you solve this mystery classmate, you'll know what I mean and remember him as that sort of person. He was always destined for something different. Thirty-one years in cornhusker state government. Just three years ago this couple went into the Peace Corps as High School English teacher. Kim, their twenty-five year old daughter, who is finishing her second year of law school, and Andrew, a 23-year old, cavalry scout, in the Army, stationed in Germany, are their pride. Quote: As of now I have a "fun" job driving for the Yellow Cab Company, here in Lincoln. It's enjoyable and low stress but I don't think I'll make it a second career." --SOLVED--SOLVED--Harlow Hyde email Harlow at hydes123@msn.com
__________

Mystery Classmate # 9. We've missed this classmate at a couple of reunions. You'll see his picture in several places on the web site. I'd have never guessed this classmate to be a business tycoon...first job was coaching and teaching, in Redfield..then it gets interesting. First, drafted in the Army, and then began a career in insurance and investments..developed hotels and restaurants and owned and operated restaurants on the east coast and some real estate projects around the midwest....four children, a daughter and three sons...four grandchildren. Quote: "Today all our kids are in business with us and I can't tell you how proud and happy it makes us." No, this mystery classmate isn't Don Trump!--SOLVED--SOLVED Jim Flannery email Jim and Linda at Flannery47@yahoo.com
__________

Mystery Classmate # 10. I've had a lot of good times with this classmate. One mutual friend said he was the kind of guy that would 'just about' get in trouble but never quite went all the way. I know better. He's been married to the same woman for 31+ years and has one step-son, living in Florida. He has worked for Kroger Co., the second largest grocery chain next to Walmart, for 25-years. and QUOTE: I plan to retire June 1, 2007 or earlier if they piss me off enough." A Kentuckian who has a vacation home in Florida, this classmate's picture appears several times on the web site. Go find him!--SOLVED--SOLVED--Gerry Boocock email Gerry at Boocock@fuse.net
__________

Mystery Classmate # 11. Quote: "A possible discussion topic for your BLOG might be, "Things I've learned since high school"--a couple of mine are: If you were a goofy geek in high school, you will be terrified of attending your high school reunion - once a goofy geek, always a goofy geek". I don't think so! This mystery classmate was quiet and now says she is "the church lady". A 1969 graduate of Northern, she went on to an admirable career and moved to Scottsdale, AZ, and in 1976 relocated to Dallas, where she worked for Texas Instruments and retired from Raytheon, a Defense Division of Texas Insruments. Since then she went to work at her church (Episcopal Church of the Apostles) as administrator where I remain to this day...thus, the 'church lady'! Married to Jim since 1978, she 'suffers' going to the Dallas Opera every season, one of her husbands favorites, as long as he goes to the country music concerts with her, particularly Toby Keith. This classmate has a pic in both the now and then, and the current pictures section of the web site. And to read her bio, we should all be so lucky as to be a 'goofy geek'. She hopes to attend the reunion this summer and we hope she can make it up here from Texas.--SOLVED--SOLVED--Cynthia Bowers email Cynthia at Cavery1@airmail.net
__________

Mystery Classmate # 12. Married since before dirt, this classmate has has become a new friend of mine, since I wasn't allowed to 'run' with the popular crowd in high school. This classmate is a cool dude and has three children, Tiffany, 31, Taylor 28, and the baby of the family, Tarrah, 26. I thought at one time this classmate had aspirations of being a professional baseball player and did a stint with the Pierre Cowboys, but rather went into the banking business and is now with State Government. His son is getting married the same time as the reunion but he insists he can wear both hats...that of the groom's proud daddy and a welcome and intrigal part of this 40th class reunion. He rates cities across America by the quality of their golf course!--SOLVED--SOLVED-Gaylord Sonnenschein email Gaylord at gaylord.sonnenschein@state.sd.us
__________

Mystery Classmate # 13. This mystery classmate disappeared from us shortly after Rigg's graduation...But, the 'get connected' team tracked him down, in Vermont. He worked for the Church of Christ, in Germany, where he and his wife adopted four-day old Andrea, in 1974, now 30 and a dental hygienist, living three blocks from them, in S. Burlington....one grandchild and another on the way. This mystery classmate has made a career working for he Lord. Furteen years with the Church of Christ, in Germany, followed by another ten years in Great Britain...he's now a minister in Vermont. A very interesting fellow and very excited and eager to hear from old classmates. I thought he would be a rocket scientist, or something. In high school, he definitely represented the top of the grading curve.--SOLVED--SOLVED--David Rivoire email David at DAVMALRIV@cs.com
__________

Mystery Classmate # 14. I can't say too much about this gal--otherwise you'd guess her name right away. I will tell you, though, she's been a regular attendee of our past three decades of class reunions...made her career in the brokerage and financial planning industry. I would never have guessed. I always expected to see her as a regular on Saturday Night Live. Her first job with Dain Bosworth found her working for, none other, than the famous Bill Berguin, of Corral Drive-In fame. Quote: "He talked frequently about all his many employees at the Corral Drive-In--it seems many left a lasting impression with him. Find this gal on the web site and let's get her solved right away! Soon you'll see many pictures on the web site from this mystery classmate of our 20th and 30th class reunions. A wonderful person, if I do say so myself.--SOLVED--SOLVED Sally Metzinger email Sally at Sallymetzinger@aol.com
__________

Mystery Classmate # 15. Quote: " I just got done getting our airline tickets, we have a room at the Ramkota (where the heck is that one located??--Pierre has gotten big!)" This lady not only marches to a different drummer--but an entirely different symphony...and I knew that even in high school. When someone solves this mystery classmate you'll know exactly what I mean. She says she handled the University of Washington mascot for eight years but it didn't take her that long to get her B.A. and M.Ed from UofW, Seattle. This was another classmate who made it difficult for people like me--regarding the grading curve. I think if you combined her and mystery classmate # 13's gpa, it would have been 4.0 x 2. I've always figured I'd rather look back on my life and regret some of the things I've done rather than look back and regret never doing them. Apparently, this mystery classmate is in compliance with that mentality. Check this out! raced sports cars for seven years, Driver of the Year for the MG Marque Club Northwest Centre, first female starter for NW Region Sports Car Club of America, ten years with the National Ski Patrol, performed numerous comedies for local community theater...now in 39th year of teaching....coached cheerleaders (five time national champions)...teacher of the year finalist in Washington State. Her and Bill continue to travel and are very active in their church with choir..she eldering and he deaconing and ushering. Their home has been filled with foster kids and foreign exchange students. A very accomplished and funny lady. I can distinctly remember her laugh and smile. It wouldn't have surprised me one bit for her and mystery classmate # 14 to co-host Saturday Night Live, Hee Haw or Laugh In. She's on the web site. Go see if you can find her.--SOLVED--SOLVED--Sandy See email Sandy at Is4warn@aol.com

__________

Mystery Classmate # 16. This is another class 'rainmaker'. This classmate has been married to Bert for 35 years. WA-HOO!! That's fantastic. She migrated to the mountains, following her sister, in 1967. Hubby is a CPA....and dog's name is 'Dakota'. She occasionally has a "no boys allowed" weekend every few years with some of her Riggs classmates...(the 'get connected team' has acquired exclusive footage of the last 'no boys allowed' weekend, which we'll either sell to the foursome, to finance this web site, or show it pro bono at the class reunion). Quote: "I finally dug up a halfway decent photo and finished my very boring bio--so you can stop nagging me now!" I also recall something about her burning a ciggy hole in the back seat of her mom's car. If there is one thing that can be said about this classmate--she's anything but boring!--SOLVED--SOLVED--Nancy Gilles email Nancy at nancybertc@aol.com
__________

Mystery Classmate # 17. This mystery classmate was always sort of silent but I had a feeling he was up to something mischieveous. He had to go to Turton, SD to find Gayle, his wife of 32 years. They have five children...the youngest, an 8th grader....I'd heard he'd gone into the agricultural business...farming...beans, or something like that...but I was wrong. Quote: "I'm ready to retire but with an 8th grader at home I guess I'll have a few more years before I can hang it up."--SOLVED--SOLVED--Jim Van Camp
__________

Mystery Classmate # 18. This classmate grew up in a brick house. That's the only hint you get. A popular girl in high school with an almost to common name, she got into the business world in an entreprenurial and big way...something to do with Fuddrucker's--World's best hamburgers. She was a very visible classmate who like riding in convertibles. She was always very cheerful and a leader in most everything she did.--SOLVED--SOLVED--Linda Johnson
__________

Mystery Classmate # 19. Quote: "I have enjoyed gardening, cycling, motorcycles, training dogs, and hunting in previous years, but I am much more sedentary now and enjoy sitting down while taking road trips in our Corvette." Many of you might not know this but this mystery classmate was a combat photographer and correspondent with the 4th ID, US Army, in Vietnam. That's front line stuff. His wife, who is a familiar name, and him have three children...a teacher, in Sioux Falls; a senator's aid, in DC; and a Banker in Denver...that's diversity for you. I'm sort of extended family to this classmate, through marriage. My little sis is his wife's brother's wife....which means this classmate and I run into each other from time-to-time at family events. This is a neat guy...trust me on this one.--SOLVED--SOLVED--Ed Colleran email Ed at Ecolleran@att.net
__________

Mystery Classmate # 20. This classmate is my neighbor, in Rapid City. You might remember her as a tall, pretty blonde. You might also remember her as the lifeguard type--swimmer. She has a diverse working history always finding her way next to the biggest flagpole. How about the Defense Atomic Support Agency, in the Pentagon.....or, is that a secret? Or, the SD Dept. of Agriculture and the SD Bicentennial Commission.....or, the Director of Corporations in the Secretary of State's Office. Married to a Murdo guy, they enjoy most of their weekends at their cabin in Spearfish canyon. Quote: "I have never had any children; however, I am on my fifth dog and still with my second husband--both of which I hope will be with me for many years to come." There's a key in this paragraph that should disclose the identity of this classmate. You just need to look for it.--SOLVED--SOLVED--Patty Keys
__________

Mystery Classmate # 21. Quote: "Many people won't remember me, since I moved to Pierre only 3 months prior to graduation. I'll also be attending Sioux Falls O'Gorman's Class of '65 reunion this summer. I knew this classmate and she's a dandy. She's a USD graduate and has taught English and composition in Yankton, Mitchell, and presently at Washington High School, in Sioux Falls. Her and her husband, of almost three and half decades, have three kids.--SOLVED--SOLVED--Becky Ward email Becky at ecolleran@att.net
__________

Mystery Classmate # 22. Quote: "Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "Damn, what a ride!" This mystery classmate was very intelligent and was another of those that messed up the grade curve. His quote is a bit surprising since this classmate was very quiet and reserved. He was in sports and has his picture in a few places on the web site. I was acquainted with him and knew the other side..the side that prompted his quote. He's a USD grad and has worked overseas as well as in the U.S. He was one of those 'dam' people. SOLVED--SOLVED..Paul Mitchell email Paul at pmitchell@rushmore.com

**Dennis nabbed me right off the bat. It had to be the 'dam' people hint because all the rest of it is a bunch of bologna...I wasn't a grade curve buster nor was I quiet and reserved. I put that in their to trick the readers. But, that's the only 'trick' mystery classmate I've used. The rest are legit.
__________

Mystery Classmate # 23. Quote: "How does one summarize in a nice neat package, forty years. Wow!" This classmate was not in the spotlight so much but a very interesting gal. She was the only one in our class with this first name. She met her husband, in 1969, on the Alask Hwy (the Alcan), married in 1969 and raised two children, Breian and Jennifer. She retired in November, 2004 from Alaska Regional Hospital Medical Transcription Department after 20 yr. They are now in their motorhome on a month's vacation in Colorado, South Dakota, and Las Vegas. She says June would be too hot for us in Pierre. Look in your year book and find this classmate. She has several pictures on the web site.--SOLVED--SOLVED--SOLVED--Ramona Robinson email Ramona at rodewald@gci.net
__________

Mystery Classmate # 24. This classmate classmate was underated..by that I would never have guessed him to be the type who served from 69-71 as an infantry lieutenant. In Viet Nam, he was an infantry platoon leader with the 101st Airborne Division (Screaming Eagles). He received a bronze star (meritorious) and Combat Infantry Man's Badge. This, my friends, from someone who knows, is serious front line duty. We have a hero in our midst. Here's the part I can understand. Previous to Vietnam he graduated from he University of SD School of Business with a major in accounting. He worked for an international accounting firm and a local CPA firm. He obtained his CPA certificate in the mid-70's. He is now retired and has a permanent 100% combat service related disability and won't be attending our reunion due to his health. This classmate went by the short version of his formal first name. In high school he was a good student and an athlete. A regular guy...and I say that with admiration.--SOLVED--SOLVED--Art Olsen email Art at artolsen@sio.midco.net
__________

Mystery Classmate # 25. This guy cracks me up...his laugh is contageous. Quote: "It's not nice to make an old man try to remember what has happened to him over the last forty years!" His greatest passion over the last 30-some years has been collecting art and he's amassed almost six hundred pieces of western, wildlife, and Native American art...too much for one house so he hangs a lot of it in the school he's worked at for over 20-years. He lives in Washington State, has two kids, son 35, and daughter 33. He's been clowning parades, playing Santa for the schools, and has been the Easter Bunny for the local Easter egg hunt for the last 25 years. Now, if you think hard about this classmate you'll soon realize that none of this is a surprise...that's just the kind of guy he was....rosy cheeks and a huge smile.--SOLVED--SOLVED Carl Schwenn...Penne can remember him putting on his clown nose at a past reunion. So can I.
__________

Mystery Classmate # 26. This mystery classmate has lived in two foreign countries and six states. Quote: "I've had many adventures in the nice places I've lived, but you know what Dorothy says, "There's no place like home." I've looked at a lot of photo's while working with the 'get connected' team and I see this mystery classmate in several of them..always in the 'fun' mode. This classmate has made his/her career with the U.S. Government, most of them as a Department of the Defense, in the Human Resources field. I can't tell you anymore other than he/she knows a lot about Smokey Bear.--SOLVED--SOLVED--Cathleen Ducey email Cathleen at Pendowsk@gwtc.net
__________

Leonardwood, MO., and basic training the day after we graduated. Quote: "I've been in SD for the last 19 years..have the same wife, Jane, that I started out with, 4 kids--two boys and two girls..none married and no grand kids. We had kids in elementary school for 18 years." If their was mischief to be had this classmate was on the cutting edge. He still speaks fondly of his car, Gladys.--SOLVED--SOLVED--Tom Noble email Tom at tcn@sio.midco.net
__________

Mystery Classmate # 28. This classmate went from Pierre to SDSU, and from there spent his entire working career at DuPont, in Richmond, VA. He recently retired. At the 30th reunion he was chosen as the "most changed". He's one of those who spent all 12 years in the Pierre School system. You didn't see much of him in high school but he was always in the background, an on the planning committee when it came to some major league pranks....like the Sally Trish missing bicycle caper. A Riggs athlete and a friend of over 50 years, this classmate is one of the most exceptional people I've ever known in my life.--SOLVED--SOLVED--Gordon Caldwell

**Hint: May 25. This classmate used to "grapple" with every school in the ESD. We are like blood brothers and have known each other as 'buddies' for going on 54-years.
__________

Mystery Classmate # 29. Here's a classmate you could say was quiet...petite and always present. We're extremely glad we've made contact with her. Quote: "We'd love to hear from classmates and friends." Married, with three children and four grandchildren, the whole crew lives pretty close to KIlleen, TX. She and her husband are both federal employees at Ft. Hood, TX. They have a part time business, Premier Designs Jewelry. You'll find her in the Gumbo towards the end of the alphabet. __________

Mystery Classmate # 30. There's nothing I can say about this classmate that wouldn't give him/her away immediately. Quote: "I am devoted to my family, 1000 percent grandma/grandpa for the girls (four granddaughters). I love them so much I can't breathe sometimes--a phenomenon that I never would have understood except through the experience." This classmate was fun, fun, fun and never ran out of gas. As I read stories that classmates send me I continually see this name. I think she/he was an East Pierre person...but left tracks from Gettysburg to Vivian--Chamberlain to Phillip. Apparently this mystery classmate has the 'goods' on many of you and I'd suggest you befriend him/her immediately before she spills the beans!--SOLVED--SOLVED--Penne Bloom

**Hint: This classmate was very popular. Her dad liked Fords.

Hint: May 25. Don't let the Vivian to Chamberlain deal throw you. This mystery classmate might have been one of the most mischieveous in the class. She won't be at the reunion since it coincides with a family reunion sort of affair in Oregon.
__________

Mystery Classmate # 31. This mystery classmate told me he was evacuated from the U.S. Capitol Building yesterday. A minor inconvenience...heck, we got a foot of snow last night in Western South Dakota...now, that IS a major inconvenience! This mystery classmate is a funny guy. I got to know him a little at the 20th where he, Terry Smith, Lindekugle and I did a Saturday afternoon shift at the Holiday Inn Lounge while everyone else was having a family picnic in the park. At that time, he'd never missed a Super Bowl which I thought was rather amazing. A Viet Nam vet. Quote: "I returned from Nam, in 1972, bought a house soon thereafter, and married Debi in 2002, after 17 years of courtship--did I take my time or what!"--SOLVED--SOLVED--Lyle Stuart email Lyle at Stufireandice@aol.com

Mystery Classmate # 33. Quote: "It surprises me that I can say it, but life seems to improve with age. I feel fortunate to be here to enjoy it." This quote makes sense if once you know this mystery classmate is into things that keep her/him feeling young; golf, listen to rock and roll, rollerblade, party, swim, hike, shop, give parties, make cakes....make cakes?....all while teaching fulltime. Oh, and a little downhill skiing with his/her ski club. A USD grad, this mystery classmate didn't hang around SD very long. At Riggs you'd always see his/her named called first for academics and activities....always willing to paricipate. Presumably quiet, in 1965, the 'get connected team' is finding out this was far from reality. A fireball, to say the least. Another brick house classmate.--SOLVED--SOLVED--Helen Adams email Helen at Helen.adams@sbcglobal.net

One son is a professional advocate of this classmate, while the other could occasionally be, professionally, an adversary. The daughter is a cardiac nurse in Colorado "Ram" country. Mystery Classmate # 35. It's amazing what classmates accomplish and where they go once they leave the halls of Riggs. This classmate spent the first ten years after graduation working in Washington, D.C., for the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture and the next ten years working for the U.S. Dept. of Justice, traveling around the world. Sounds mysterious, huh? It gets better! She was evacuated out of Afghanistan and was relocated to Wichita, KS. Her and Don retired to a small town in KS...almost sounds like witness protection...where they owned and operated a small oil and gas company. She adopted her son from LaPaz, Bolivia. Altogether they have five children counting Don's, 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. For the past 15 years they've been competing in English Springer Spaniel field trials events throughout Canada and the US. They've never won a national championship but have placed in four of them. Quote: "Each day I open my heart to recognize the rainbows in my life." A petite, quiet gal, with a big, big grin. This is one of those classmates I would like to sit down with and talk about the last 40-years. You'll find her in the front half of the alphabet....come to think of it she sort of looks like someone who would work for the Department of the Justice! Look to the Gumbo for this mystery classmate.--SOLVED--SOLVED--Pat Brasel

Mystery Classmate # 36. This classmate joined us with only two months left in the school year. His dad was a consultant for the Army Corps of Engineers. They came from Ohio and he had attended a private school, in Toledo. He didn't have a graduation picture and wasn't here for graduation ceremonies. But, he graduated with the Class of 65, and was present at the 20th Class Reunion. I was surprised when I met him. He introduced himself the last night at the banquet because he happened to be traveling through and saw the marquee at the Ramkota welcoming the Class of '65. This is legit. I can prove it. I have his bio and a 'now' picture. Now, let's see how good you are! The only classmate who graduated from two high schools in 1965. Look around the web site and you'll see some hints.--SOLVED--SOLVED--John Biebelheimer

Mystery Classmate # 37. This is a 'dam' person but didn't actually live in the government Housing Area. He has a brother in Aberdeen. This kid had a killer fastball at 12-years old. I know--I batted against him hundreds of times. He had a little bit of a control problem so many of us were wounded more than once. I have to tell you--you can hear his laugh for miles. This guy knows some stories about me that only a handful of people on this planet know about. He worked in St. Paul for twenty plus years, until they closed down the brewery...no kidding... and lived in Wisconsin. Quote: "I took the bucket of lemons (health and work) that life handed me, made a huge cooler of lemondade and threw in some ice, said 'screw it' and went fishing. That was six years ago." I never know when this classmate is going to call me--more recently he and Lindekugle called from Campground #2, at Oahe and wanted to know if I wanted any fish!--SOLVED--SOLVED--Jerry Brink

One time he took me from Galena to Lead, in a Corvette, and I wanted out at the top of Strawberry Mountain--in a bad way...and I've ridden with some fast drivers in my time.--SOLVED--SOLVED--This was too easy! Mystery Classmate # 39. You're going to have to look in the Gumbo (which, by the way, I stepped in some gumbo this weekend, in Pierre--yecch!) She met her best friend, life partner, George, at SDSU, in the fall of '65. She hung out up towards the front of the Gumbo. She's had three careers....the second one was the owner of a coffee shop called the Fine Grind, in Lincoln, NE. They live on their lake home, at Lake of the Ozarks, MO. Her folks moved from Pierre to Norfolk, NE the same year we graduated. Her adult journey has taken them from NE to KS, back to NE and then to MO....with a shot of Ft. Eustis, VA mixed in. Actually, if you knew this gal you wouldn't be surprised to hear her say she had three careers...pretty, smart, and silently loud.--SOLVED--SOLVED--Linda Barrett

Quote: "It doesn't seem like 40 years but then 2005 minus 1965 equals 40 and that is 'big time math' for me." Always a barrel of laughs. I'm telling you this classmate was into a lot more mischief than you might imagine. I know of some of his capers and, coming from a caper master like me, this guy deserves some awards. A veteran and medic stationed in Seoul, Korea during 1972 and 73, where he worked in the psychiatric ward. After playing in the car parts business and being a professional photographer, he moved to America's Dairyland and now he sells lube oil and grease to anyone in America that will listen and has been a Cenex Man for over 30-years. Married for 22 years, he and Brenda have two sons, 18 and 15. I was working at Black Hills Harley Davidson, then, like I am now, and she sauntered up, one hip at a time, and said, "Member me?" I learned at a young age to look around for a spouse of some sort before I respond to questions like that...especially at a motorcycle rally. Sure enough Gary was sitting on his Harley a few feet away with a big grin on his mug. Quote: "I have worked for a beer distributer for the past 27 years..ah, all that beer tasting at those high school key parties certainly prepared me for the beer business..oh, and the fact that I'm half Irish and being born on St. Patrick's Day." Her motto through life has been "I may not be good--but I'm good at it!" She's hanging around the web site...cheers! --SOLVED--SOLVED--Another that was too easy! Patty Kifer

BLOG MEISTER NOTE: We have some lurkers out there, and for one reason or another aren't posting their guesses on the actual blog site--but rather sending them to me VIA email. The idea is to make our mystery classmate guesses on the actual blog site. The process may be unclear so let's go through it again. When you read the mystery classmate descriptions, and think you know the answer, you can post your guess on the blog site by going to the last description entry (in this case--this entry) and scroll down just a couple of lines. You'll see the word 'comments' in ( ), i.e., ( 63 Comments) with a number. Click on that and you'll be able to see all the comments we've gotten on all of the mystery classmates, plus some fun dialogue between different classmates. Currently we have over 60! The most recent guesses are the highest number and at the top of the list. If you want to post your guess just scroll all the way to the bottom and there you'll see the 'comments' format and location for your guesses. Type in your name and enter your guess in the comments section. When you've done that just click on 'Post It'. You'll see a little bar graph that tells you it is posting. You only have to click 'Post It' ONE TIME. It takes a little time so be patient. I have high speed internet and it still takes a couple of minutes...just sit back and watch the bar graph advance. Don't interrupt the process--otherwise it won't take. Then it will tell you your comment has been posted. Each night I update the blog site and make my own comments to your comments. It's fun. This way the rest of us can see the reasons for your guesses. I'd rather have you say, in a few words, what clue in the description prompted you to make the guess you made. The idea is to let us all learn a little about each other before the actual reunion, and to give the people who can't make it to Pierre, a chance to play a little game and see what their classmates have been doing. Try it--you'll like it!

__________

Mystery Classmate # 76. This mystery classmate was sort of quiet and sort of wild. We're having a hard time finding him. He lived on the corner of Pleasant Drive and Central, kitty corner from Anderson's Super Market and just down Pleasant Drive from Tom Noble, and just down from the Methodist Church. I bought my first motorcycle, a Triumph 650 from this classmate for $90. You could usually find him tinkering on a car or cycle--but for now can find him towards the end of the Gumbo.--SOLVED--SOLVED--Mark Vanderpol

**hint: May 30, 2005---How difficult is this? Cousin to someone on the Pierre Reunion Committee.
__________

Mystery Classmate # 82. This classmate is one of a couple of our classmates who became medical doctor's. He spent a lot of time in the Mobridge area and he told me at the 20th class reunion that he was going to be going to the Fargo, ND area. Come on?--SOLVED--SOLVED--Jeff Peterson
__________

Mystery Classmate # 83. This classmate lived in a brick house. He drove a gold 55-Chevy and had more electronic gadgets on his car than I've ever seen. __________

Mystery Classmate # 90. Here's a very popular gal in our class--involved in almost everything. Her dad even showed up at our 30th Class Reunion, at the Legion Cabin to say hello to all the classmates, most of home he soaked a reed or two with at Riggs. I accidentally lit her hair on fire in Chemistry Class with an errant buring stick launched from an out of control Bunson Burner. __________

Mystery Classmate # 93. This classmate was another one of us 'dam' people. He could be seen on the tumbling team flying over the tops of a three-layer pyramid. __________

Mystery Classmate # 94. This guy was tall...I mean tall, tall. A very sound scholar who went on, the last I knew, to the Peace Corps. I haven't seen much of this classmate since our days at Rigg's but always hoped to see him show up at a class reunion. Tall might be a hint to one of the sports he played in. All I can personally remember is running the last leg of a 440, and having a lead at the passing of the baton...the closer I got to the finish line, the faster my little legs were churning. All I could hear were these thud, thud, thud sounds of some big guy right on my heels. I came across the fish line first and this mystery classmate was right next to me--taking one stride to my five. Phil Troutner reached out and patted me on the back and I ate about 15 yard so cinders and got the biggest dose of track rash I'd ever seen. This guy was tall!--SOLVED--SOLVED--Jack Robinson
__________

Mystery Classmate # 95. Iolis raised a family of hunters and this mystery classmate was no exception. You might remember him in his old woody Jeep Wagoneer...of 50's vintage. Name that Mystery Classmate (Part 1)
WE'VE SOLVED ALL THE MYSTERY CLASSMATES ON PART 1...NOW GO TO MYSTERY CLASSMATES PART 2 AND TAKE A RUN AT THE NEW CLASSMATES. BEFORE YOU GO, THOUGH, SCROLL DOWN AND READ THE ENTRIES AND THE ACTUAL BIO'S OF THE FIRST SIX MYSTERY CLASSMATES.

We've been compiling 'bio' information on classmates for the 'memory booklet'. This project is going well but you know the 'GET CONNECTED' team by now...we're never satisfied. So, the blogmaster is suggesting a little game to see if we can generate some interest. Obviously, our intent is two-fold (it always is). First, we want as many classmates as possible to give us a bit of input about what you've been up to since the last time we saw you...in some cases 40 years...by sending us your bio by snail mail or email. Just a paragraph or two..basic stuff. BUT, we also want to share a little info with you about some of the classmates who've already responded, without just posting the info on the web site. After all, that's what the reunion 'memory booklet' is for. We've got some very interesting classmates with neat families, careers and locales. We were thinking of giving some hints from our days at Rigg's, along with some information these classmates have forwarded to us, and see how long it takes us to guess who the classmate is. This might require a little memory jogging because the initial hints are going to be a little vague. You might have to go back into your Gumbo, if you can find it...or look for the hints on the web site. We're talking about a 'classmate scavenger hunt', or ' Internet Charades', so to speak, to help you become more familiar with the web site, AND your memory of our days at Riggs, and even further back to our growing up days, in Pierre. From time-to-time we'll add more hints until the mystery classmate has been identified. Once you've identified them we'll be a bit more focused with our information. You can find the mystery classmates under the BOLD headline section of this main Entry. The 'Mystery Classmate" will be numbered and when you ask a question, make a suggestion, or venture a guess, refer to the classmates number so the rest of us can gather in your information and add some of our own. Your input vehicle will be the 'comment' section at the end of this challenge. Together, we'll hopefully come up with the mystery classmate's names.

Mystery Classmate, # 1. You might find this classmate's picture in more than one place on the web site. This classmate has been married for 35 years to a familiar name. 'Pasture pool' at the local golf course is a passion. Local, for this classmate isn't in Pierre (metro), but he/she makes mention that they still live on the Missouri River. Not a particularly common first name. I remember this classmate as a quiet person and a very good dresser...exactly the kind of gal/guy you would take home to show your mom and dad. **editor's note: There's a glaring hint here and if this classmate doesn't survive your scrutiny for very long---well, we'll just have to make things a little more difficult. We'll wait for a while and post another hint...depending on the activity. Come back often and stay a while. The 'get connected' team.....UNSOLVED--UNSOLVED--UNSOLVED--UNSOLVED--UNSOLVED--UNSOLVED

**hint, May 8, 2005. This classmate recently moved to O'Fallon, MO. formerly of Neenah, WI fame..has Twin Boys. He coached and taught his first six years, then went into property and casualty insurance and now is with Thrivent and Life Insurance. Only two other guys in the class with the same first name.

**hint, May 10, 2005. This mystery classmate was no stranger to stocking shelves.

___________________________________________________________________________________

Mystery Classmate # 2. This mystery classmate is multi-talented. You'll remember him/her as quiet and very proper...never one to look for the spotlight, but always involved in Rigg's activities. This classmate will most likely be 'in the middle' of things at the 40th Reunion. He/she is close to the President of the United States and takes a song and the stage very seriously.

** Good Job Dennis Douglas. I thought this would be a tough one. Xavia Arndt Sheffield Email Xavia at Xaviasheffield@hotmail.com and say 'hello'--I'm sure she'd appreciate it. "Get Connected".
__________________________________________________________________________________

Mystery Classmate # 3. What can I say about this classmate that hasn't already been said many times, by many acquaintances. This classmate, as I remember, was either the number one life of the party, or in the top two. I can't ever remember he/she without a big, big smile and hearty laugh. An entrepreneur and business person, sports fan and kickboxer, this mystery classmate will be at the reunion and, surprisingly, reports being a little nervous.....which, if my memory serves me right, will be very short-lived!

**Hint, for Classmate # 3. First, I can't see Lyle Steward being a kickboxer. This mystery classmate is a girl! SOLVED--SOLVED--SOLVED--SOLVED--SOLVED--SOLVED--SOLVED--SOLVED--SOLVED

GOOD WORK, SALLY. Mystery Classmate # 3 IS the one and only Lyssa Shadrick. Sally picked up on my hints...blosom, Colorado.. contact Lyssa at dlbingman@netzero.com She'll be at the reunion and give a kick boxing demonstration!
__________________________________________________________________________________

OK, let's see who these people are! And, those of you who haven't sent in your bio's--please do. You're important to us all. Your fellow classmates truly want to know what you've been up to, or where you live. Maybe, just maybe, you'll find some connections. We've already found several connections in this effort...thus the name the 'Get Connected' team.

Mystery Classmate # 4. This classmate met his/her spouse on a blind date, in Pierre, and some 37 years later they're still going strong. They've always made the Dakota's their home and live a stone's throw from the Missouri River where they work and play. Acronyms like PRN, Q & R clinics, and ENT health departments are familiar descriptions of their work place. Quote: "Between church, work, travel, home and community, we lead a very busy and fulfilling life for 'old farts'!" You'll see this classmates photo all over the web site. The years have been their friend. They received special recognition by the class. We've obtained an exclusive 'post Prom Activity Report' on this mystery classmate. There's no Clairol in their house. A wonderful person. Everybody should guess this classmate.

**Sally and Jan both think this is Cheryl Hinsey. Can anybody concur?

__________________________________________________________________________________

Mystery Classmate # 5. This mystery classmate has received two Masters Degrees and had aspirations of being a college teacher after a long and successful career in City Management. Quote: "I am trying to sway my left-brained way of thinking into a right-brained way of thinking!" His/her art has already appeared in art shows, specializing in gourd art, photography and some wall art. This classmates industriousness is no surprise. At Riggs he/she was involved in just about everything. You could 'bank' on on this classmate through thick and thin. You can find this classmates picture in just about all aspects of our high school days. Go look for it. The years have been their friend. You might see this classmate on a Harley or at an art show. Mesa will miss this classmate. Red and Purple are favorite colors. SOLVED--SOLVED--SOLVED--SOLVED--SOLVED--SOLVED--SOLVED--SOLVED--SOLVED

**Sally, the memory guru, thinks this is Jan Neuharth. She's spotted my clues. And she IS correct. Mystery Classmate # 5 is our one and only 'get connected' team mate...The Queen Mother Diva of the Red Hat Society, Ruidoso, NM. email Jan at jnkmesaaz2000@aol.com Jan is a tireless planner for this reunion. If you like what you see--let her know. Sometimes that's the only thanks she gets.

________________________________________________________________________________

Mystery Classmate # 6. This classmates college Alma Mater is a minimum security prison---it's no wonder they ended up in a career as a 'banker'...they go hand-in-hand, eh? He/she lived on Pawnee Street, in our high school days and now call themself a "Hawkeye". Quote: "I have a hard time feeling 58. I'm still stuck somewhere in the late 30's except every so often my body tells me exactly where I'm at!" This classmate takes pride in competing with Terry Smith for the last chair Trombone and says now days his/her effort would have special consideration since they sport the same hair style as Mr. Sampson had. 55 Chevy, 2-door post, with nice paint and a V-6 engine--All Show and no Go. A popular well-dressed dude as comfortable cruising Euclid as a competing athlete. If you called him what we called him in high school, in the business world, he wouldn't recognize his name. This classmate is a cool dude and has a son living in Minneapolis. SOLVED--SOLVED--SOLVED--SOLVED

**Sally again, nailed Rick White the first day out. She knew the Pawnee street address connection and that he was a banker. I thought the Yankton College/aka State minimum security prison might give it away. Contact Rick (he calls himself Fred..but we know better) at fwhite@americantrust.com

CONGRATULATIONS TO DENNIS DOUGLAS FOR GUESSING MYSTERY CLASSMATE # 2--XAVIA ARNDT SHEFFIELD. Xavia's husband of 30 years is a minister at the Georgetown Presbyterian Church, in Washington, D.C., after living in Ohio for 20-years...thus her closeness to the President. Her and her husband have two children, Jennifer, 24 and Andrew, 22. She earned her BA in Music and her MA in speech/Theater from SDSU. Quote: "While being a stay-at-home mom for 20 years, I worked part time as a Professional Assistant in Communications at Ohio Northern University; as Chilrdren's Music Director at my church and a private school; as Director of Vacation Bible Schools; as Teacher of Adult and Children's Sunday School, with a special interest in Women of the Bible; as Director of Christmas Pageants, Musicals, and a Children's Theater Workshop; as a Soprano in the Church Choir and the Lima Symphony Chorus; and as creator of over 800 bulletin boards, for which I received national recognition." Xavia enjoys baking, cross-stitch, CREATING CUSTOM CENTERPIECES, writing children's music and performing in community musicals. One of our hints was that Xavia will be in 'the middle' of our reunion activities. She's graciously volunteered to creat and design the banquet table centerpeices for our 40th Reunion. Small in stature and huge in endeavor. We're looking forward to seeing Xavia, this June, at Rigg's Class of '65 reunion. You can contact Xavia at Xaviasheffield@hotmail.com
___________

CONGRATS TO SALLY METZINGER AND CYBER SPACE WORKER BEE FOR GUESSING LYSSA SHADRICK. Lyssa has lived in Colorado since 1967, and Colorado Springs since 1975. She's been married to Dan for 23 years and they have two kids, Amy who lives in Denver and Brad, in Colorado Springs...a couple of shit choo's...er, eh heh, I mean Shih Tzus, named Aspen and Birch (original, Lyssa). She owns TLC Gardens and Fleece & More (Hip Doggy Clothes). Lyssa woned Elite Bridal and Formalwear and Sign of the Rose Florist. Wow. When is she going to go public with these businesses. I want some of this action. Lyssa likes antiquing, traveling, camping, boating, aerobics and KICKBOXING. She'll be at the reunion and we can't wait!!! Now, go back and read our hints about Lyssa. Her 'now and then' pic will soon be posted. You can contact Lyssa at dlbingman@netzero.com
___________

SALLY PEGGED RICK WHITE, TOO. Everybody in the professional and banking world calls Rick, 'Fred'. Go figure. I don't know a Fred White. But, Rick White is a neat dude. He lives in DuBuque, where he is the VP of Consumer Lending for a community bank after doing 20 years with First Bank Systems. He and Mary Van Camp have one son, Nicholas who is married and living in Minneapolis. His parents are still alive and live in Pierre. He goes home to visit them as often as possible. We're hoping Rick makes it to the 40th Reunion...and thanks for being a mystery classmate. Talk to Rick at fwhite@americantrust.com
____________

SALLY ALSO GUESSED JAN NEUHARTH KENNEDY: Jan and her husband Jack, who retired a year ago now live in Ruidoso, NM. She spent her professional career in Mesa, AZ and worked for the City of Mesa in Utilities Administration. Jan says she worked in natural gas where she bought and sold natural gas and the transportation. I know this leaves all sorts of doors open for a joke and a little funny business, but in reality her responsibilities sound very....well, explosive. ha ha. I couldn't resist. She has just finished work on her second Masters Degree, this one in Education. Jan is developing her artistic skills which she says have been very limited. She must be doing pretty well since her work was in an art show in November, 2004. Her work will also be shown at a showing in Ruidoso during our 40th class reunion. We've gotten to know Jan very well as members of the 'get connected' team and found her to be a wealth of talent and enthusiasm. Her bio is humble. This lady has some real talent which is only surpassed by her exemplary personality. jnkmesaaz2000@aol.com Email Jan. She'll enjoy that.

We Grew Up in a Small Town
Thanks to Diane Swanson, Riggs High Class of 1969 for this funny little ditty about small towns.

Those who grew up in small towns will laugh when they read this. Those who didn't will be in disbelief!

1) You can name everyone you graduated with.
2) You know what 4-H means.
3)You went to parties at a pasture, barn, gravel pit, or in the middle of a dirt road.
4) You used to 'drag' Main.
5) You said the "F" word and your parents knew within a hour.
6) You scheduled your parties around schedules of different police officers because you know which ones would bust you and which ones wouldn't.
7) You could never buy cigarettes because all the store clerks knew how old you were.
8) When you did find someone old enough and brave enough to buy cigs, you still had to go out into the country and drive on back roads to smoke them.
9) You knew which section of the ditch you would find the beer your buyer dropped off.
10) It was cool to date somebody from a neighboring town.
11) The whole school went to the same party after graduation.
12) You didn't give directions by street names but rather by references. (Turn by Nelson's house, go two blocks to Anderson's and it's four houses left of the track field.
13) The golf course had only nine holes.
14) You couldn't help but date a friend's ex-boyfriend/girlfriend.
15) The town next to you was considered 'trashy' or 'snooty,' but was actually just like your town.
16) You referred to anyone with a house newer than 1960 as the 'rich' people.
17) The people in the big city dressed funny, and then you picked up the trend two years later.
18) Anyone you wanted could be found at the local gas station, Drive-in, or bar.
19) Directions were given using the 'stop light' as a reference.
20) When you decided to walk somewhere for exercise, 5 people would pull over and ask you if you wanted a ride.
21) You teachers remembered when they taught your parents.
22) The closest Mc Donald's was 200 miles away.
23) The closest mall was 300 miles away.
24) Most people went by a nickname.
LIFE MAY NOT BE THE PARTY WE HOPED FOR BUT, WHILE WE'RE HERE, WE MIGHT AS WELL DANCE!!!
